Day 15 – Swamp Tour & Mezzo technologies
Cajun Pride Swamp Tour
There is no better way to start the week on a Monday morning with an excursion to an alligator swamp tour. We arrived at 8:30 am in La Pace and went directly on the boat to start the journey. Here, birds, snakes, turtles and especially Alligators are resident and easily spotted in Spring, Summer and Fall. Gators hibernate during the cold winter months but lay on the bayou banks on warmer days the tour guide mentioned. Furthermore, he claimed the film industry and television creates the misleading illusion that Alligators are being belligerent and aggressive which is not the case if they are not bothered.
Mezzo technologies
After a short ride we arrived Mezzo technologies. The president Dr. Kelly gave us a brief introduction over his product portfolio, explained the technical functionalities and what the customer base looks like. Mezzo technologies was founded in 2000 by Dr. Kelly himself. He employs a staff of estimated 20 people. It was also mentioned that the cooling systems of Mezzo technologies cools down the temperature to ambient temperature which no one of the other companies can achieve. This part is used in the motorsport and space branch which increases the performance and reduces the risk of damage by overheating. Afterwards the Fulbright students gained an insight of how the parts are manufactured. The combination of micro drilling expertise and precision welding are key factors for the quality of the product. Simulation programs to optimize the form and quality management guarantee a high industry standard and that the product will work reliable in difficult conditions.
